When is City Hideaway open?

City Hideaway operates as short-term summer accommodation from May to August each year. Outside of these months, the property is closed.

Why is City Hideaway only open during the summer?

During the academic year, our rooms are used as student accommodation. We transform the property into a welcoming summer stay from May to August, offering private ensuite rooms for holidaymakers, solo travellers, couples, and friends.

Where is City HideAway located?

We’re in the heart of Galway City, just steps from Eyre Square and right beside the main coach station – perfect for bus and airport connections. You’ll find shops, pubs, restaurants, and cultural hotspots all within walking distance.

What types of rooms are available?

We offer a range of ensuite rooms to suit solo travellers, couples, and small groups. Room types include:

Is breakfast included?

Breakfast at HYDE, located just across the road, is available for all guests to book. Guests who book breakfast should book their breakfast dining time on check-in at City HideAway to ensure a delicious start to your day in Galway.

Are there cooking facilities?

No, cooking is not permitted in any room type.

Studios and Twodios include light-use kitchenettes ideal for snacks and drinks. But full cooking facilities are not available onsite.

Is there a communal area?

Yes! All guests have access to a communal lounge within the building. . Our communal areas are open daily from 8am to 10pm. It’s the perfect spot to relax, meet friends, or enjoy a tea or coffee.

Is Wi-Fi available?

Absolutely. Enjoy free, superfast Wi-Fi throughout the property.

Can I store my luggage?

While we don’t offer onsite storage, our friends at Galway Luggage Storage (right on Eyre Square) provide safe and secure storage for early arrivals and late departures.

Are towels and linens provided?

Yes — all rooms include fresh towels and bed linen, ready for your arrival.

Is parking available?

Yes. Public parking is available at CityPark, with 2 locations just a 2 minute walk fom our building. A reservation is not required, just grab a ticket on entry, park and redeem a 50% discount on checkout, just show your ticket to reception. Discount rate is €12 for 24 hours.

We also have partnered with Hynes Yard, just 8 mins walk from our building.

Can I book for a group?

Of course! City HideAway is ideal for group bookings. Whether you’re attending a wedding, travelling with friends, or organising a city break, we’ll help tailor your stay.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in: From 3:00 PM

Check-out: By 11:00 AM

Are pets allowed?

Unfortunately, pets are not permitted at City HideAway, with the exception of registered guide dogs.

Is there staff on-site?

Our friendly team is always available to assist you — whether you need local tips, help with your booking, or anything in between. We’re here to make your Galway stay seamless.

How do I contact City HideAway?

Is City HideAway a cashless property?

Yes, City HideAway is a fully cashless property. We accept card and contactless payments only (debit/credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc.). This helps us provide a faster, safer, and more secure check-in and payment experience.

Can I pay with cash on arrival?

No, we do not accept cash payments. All bookings and additional charges during your stay must be settled using a card or contactless method.

Do rooms have air conditioning?

No, there’s no air conditioning in the rooms. If you’d like a fan, just pop down to reception and we’ll be happy to provide one.

How do I adjust the temperature in my room?

Each room includes a thermostat that controls heating only. If you need help adjusting it, just ask!

When is the fire alarm tested?

We test the fire alarm system every Monday – there’s no need to be concerned if you hear it on that day.

Is there daily housekeeping?

Rooms are cleaned on departure, or on day 3 of your stay if you’re staying longer. If you’d like fresh towels or linen in the meantime, just let us know at reception.

Can I call reception from my room?

There are no phones in rooms, so if you need anything during your stay, please visit reception – we’re always happy to help in person.

Can I bring guests back to my room?

For everyone’s comfort and security, we kindly ask that no visitors are brought to rooms after 10pm.

Is laundry available?

Yes — we have a self-service laundry area available onsite. Ask at reception and we’ll point you in the right direction.

When do bookings usually open for the summer season?

Bookings are open all year round. We encourage guests to secure their stay in advance, as dates fill quickly.
